Diet after the holidays, did you know that fruit and vegetables reduce appetite?

January 1, 2018

After the holidays, add to your daily diet and regularly consume fruits and vegetables. It will help you to reduce water retention and they give a sense of satiety, which helps to reduce the calories eaten – explains Dr. Manuela Pastore, dietician from Humanitas hospital. – Raw vegetables are preferred, because they retain less water and thus reduce the risk of further water retention, while the fruit should be limited to a maximum of 2-3 fruits, in order to avoid excess sugar. In addition, to avoid extra vegetable calories, it is better to season them with extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice and apple vinegar, leaving aside other seasonings. You should not avoid, to add to your salad or to your raw-vegetable dish, water-rich vegetables such as cucumbers, radish and lettuce. A detox salad after the holidays should include three ingredients, such as salad tomatoes, red radicchio and fennel; the latter should be present as it has purifying and draining properties. Finally, to enrich the detox salad of water-rich vegetables, slice cabbage finely, rocket and carrots, that contain about 90g of water each. Regarding the fruit, however, you should not fail to include winter melon, citrus fruits like grapefruit and oranges, granny smith or renette apples, and berries.
