The doctors of Humanitas in the Calvin High School to talk to young people about sports, anorexia and bulimia

September 19, 2018

Prevention, correct lifestyles, sports, nutrition, vaccines but also eating disorders: Humanitas doctors spoke to the children of the Italo Calvino Higher Education Institute in Rozzano about this and much more during the meetings held in the Aula Magna.

On May 25, from 10 to 13 o’clock, the students of the fourth classes also met Professor Daniela Lucini, Director of the School of Specialization in Sports Medicine and Physical Exercise at the University of Milan and Head of the Medical Section of the Humanitas Clinical Institute of Rozzano. As part of the “Primavera della Salute” (Spring of Health) initiative, Prof. Lucini also spoke to students about topics such as anorexia and bulimia, with a focus on the importance of proper nutrition.

“Many students believe that proper nutrition is not their problem, especially if they do sports – explained Lucini – but it is good that the boys know that healthy eating is not only useful to lose weight, but it is especially beneficial to prevent certain diseases that develop more frequently in adulthood.

Exercise and nutrition, in short, are also essential for those who are young.

When the relationship with food becomes a problem, it is important to talk about it with the right people

“In the meeting we also subtly addressed the problem of anorexia and bulimia – continued the specialist. Obesity and overweight, as well as a pathological thinness, are problems that children must learn to talk about with the right people. Not with friends or on the Internet, but with health experts, the only ones who can guide them properly.
