After the Ortho Center Conference, where the leading specialists discussed the main topics in the orthopedic field, Humanitas focused on shoulder surgery with “SMILE – Shoulder Milan International Live Experience 2019”.

A three-day event – held from Thursday 28 February to Saturday 2 March at the Humanitas Congress Centre – organized by Prof. Alessandro Castagna, Head of Shoulder and Elbow Orthopedics Operating Unit of Humanitas, hosted international and national surgeons to take stock of shoulder surgery, but also to dedicate two days to the training of young and future doctors.

The Shoulder Milan International Live Experience was also sponsored by the companies SIA (Italian Society for Arthroscopy), the Italian Society for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (SICSeG).

The themes of the congress: lessons, live surgery and live simulations

Advanced surgical reconstruction techniques in rotator cuff repair, state-of-the-art surgery to solve shoulder instability, shoulder trauma and difficult primary reversals and revisions: these were some of the topics scheduled in the first two days of the congress, accompanied by 19 live surgeries and surgery simulations. The day of March 2, instead, focused on the rehabilitation of the shoulder.
