Humanitas Health recipe: oatmeal porridge with seasonal fruit, walnuts and maple syrup

March 13, 2018

Together with Dr. Manuela Pastore, clinical dietician of the Health Department of the Humanitas Clinical Institute, we see how to prepare the oatmeal porridge with seasonal fruit, walnuts and maple syrup. This soup is typical of the countries of northern Europe, – explains Doctor Pastore – and it is a full breakfast and with great satiating power, an excellent way to start the day especially if you do not expect a well-structured lunch”. Let’s see how to prepare it.

The recipe

Ingredients (for 4 people)

  • 4 coffee cups of oat flakes
  • 8 cups of cow’s milk coffee (if you want you can also use your favorite vegetable milk)
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1 mature pear
  • 1 banana
  • 1 mature kiwi fruit
  • 30 g kernels of walnuts
  • Maple syrup

Preparation

Put the milk together with the flakes of oats and powdered cinnamon in a saucepan. Cook over moderate heat for about 25 minutes, stirring from time to time. You will get a dense compound very similar to milk rice.

Wash and cut the fruit into small pieces.

Once the porridge is ready, put it in a bowl, decorated with fruit, nuts and seasoned with a string of maple syrup.
