ELUXEO is the new technology for endoscopy presented last February in Milan, during a national event, which was attended by about thirty gastroenterologists specialists from all over Italy. The event “ELUXEO: a new light in endoscopy” had a strong scientific characterization, thanks to the round tables dedicated to the evaluation of the classification methodologies of colorectal polyps.

The technology provides enhanced image support for endoscopic examination, more precise in differentiating surfaces of mucous membranes and vessel structures in the gastrointestinal tract. It also facilitates the identification of lesions, allows for more accurate diagnosis and also has the advantage of greater patient comfort.

The new technology features an innovative light source with four independent LED sources, offering both brighter, more natural white light and two new virtual chromo-endoscopy modes. BLI (Blue Light Imaging) is dedicated to the detailed analysis of the mucosal surface, while LCI (Linked Color Imaging) allows a more contrasting view of the red scale.

The live streaming connection with Humanitas

During the day, participants were able to observe the new technology in the field, thanks to the live streaming connection with the digestive endoscopy of Humanitas, where live-cases were shown with the use of ELUXEO.

A dedicated hands-on session on columns was also held for the endoscopists present.

Professor Alessandro Repici, Head of Digestive Endoscopy at Humanitas, explains: “Thanks to BLI, it is possible to make the characterization of colorectal polyps simpler and standardize it, a great innovation to improve the diagnosis and treatment of colon cancer”.

Among the advantages of Blue Light Imaging technology, we also point out:

It facilitates the identification of early onset colorectal lesions, inflammations and tumors, making it easier to make immediate treatment decisions. Moreover, a more precise diagnosis is possible.
