Asthenia is a symptom that is manifested by a state of general weakness or lack of energy, due to a reduction or loss of muscle strength, easy fatigue and inadequate reaction to stimuli. The state of weakness does not depend on workload or employed efforts ​​(although aggravates the condition of the organism) and it disappears at rest. The condition may have a psychic origin (noticed in 50% of cases, especially in anxious or depressed patients) or a physical one, and therefore depends on the presence of other diseases.
