Eye discharge occurs in case of excessive leakage from the serum norm or pus, generally composed of mucus, oily substances, mixed with skin cells and other waste. The eye discharge, under normal conditions, has a protective function, but if you notice a difference of production, color and amount of fluid from the eye it is a symptom commonly associated with eye infections and other diseases such as: viral conjunctivitis, bacterial, allergy, virus infection, Herpes Zoster ocular keratitis of fungal origin. The problem is also common in the neonatal stage .

  • Reiter's syndrome
  • Corneal ulcer

What is the therapy for eye discharge?

A small amount of eye discharge is harmless, but if you notice changes in the color, the frequency, consistency and quantity of liquids from the eye or accumulate at the base, you may need to consult with your eye doctor.
