Eye fatigue or eyestrain is a condition that occurs when the muscle of the eyeball (internal and external muscles of the eye) gets tired from intense use. Each time an object is observed up close, in order to focus, activate both external and internal muscles of the eye by subjecting them to a real effort. In the long term that can lead to fatigue of the eye.

The most frequent symptoms for eye fatigue are: tearing associated with burning eyes, dry eyes, a feeling of something in the eyes. Also sensitivity to light, headaches, blurred vision and double vision can occur.

The treatment for fatigue of the eye varies depending on the cause. In case of eye fatigue these changes in the daily habits and environment could help the condition:

  • Wearing glasses with a custom correction and also taking into account the right working distance.
  • Change of the lighting in the workplace.
  • Use of artificial tears to constantly lubricate the surface of the eye.
